Residential, commercial, institutional—roof mounts, ground mounts, EV charging, energy storage—we’ve done it all. In every town. Take a peek at our portfolio then picture what we can do for you. (Keep in mind: we love a challenge!)
“South Mountain made the process very easy for us, taking care of all the details, to make sure we got all the rebates and credits to which we were entitled. There were literally no hassles for us during installation, and when the work was complete, the house and yard looked better than before.”

Solar was planned for this house from the get-go. The dormer was custom-sized to accommodate panels, and we worked closely with the contractor to integrate our work seamlessly into the construction sequence.

We wire every solar array with future EV charging in mind, so that when you're ready to take the next step towards electrification, your infrastructure will be ready too!

Ground-mounted solar can be a great alternative when a roof-mounted system isn’t ideal. It allows for optimal positioning, discreet placement, fewer obstructions, and often a faster install.

We install solar on all roof types—including asphalt, cement, cedar, Enviroshake, slate, standing seam metal, membrane, and even copper.
Solar is possible—even in the historic district! For this project, we specified interior conduit and all-black panels before securing approval from the Edgartown Historic District Commission on behalf of our clients.

One of the many ways we help you feel confident, informed, and supported—on day one and every day after: every system we install comes with a comprehensive guide, tailored to your project. It covers how your system works, how to claim tax credits, access monitoring tools, find warranty and equipment details, and who to contact if anything ever goes wrong.

"The solar installation is my most cherished aspect of the house. I admire the work South Mountain is doing in research and development in energy conservation and their leadership on Martha's Vineyard in preserving resources for the future.”

When MV Shipyard reached out about adding solar to their Vineyard Haven campus, they had one pressing question: could the panels withstand seagulls dropping clams on them? To find out, we staged a "clam slam"—dropping bushels from a height. Littlenecks, cherrystones, and steamers passed with flying colors. Quahogs caused a few cracks, but luckily, gulls can't lift them.

"Originally, I contracted one of the largest solar installers in the Northeast. After their considerable delay, I terminated that contract and contacted South Mountain. They worked with the previous contractor to transfer all project information, improved the design, helped me procure federal grant funding, and provided a turnkey installation with expediency. In hindsight, I wish I had contacted them in the first place!”

This property sits on a remote finger of the Great Ponds, two miles from the nearest electrical connection. Trenching was cost-prohibitive, so we designed it to be 100% off-grid—powered by 33kW of solar and 137kWh of lithium-ion battery storage.

Designed to satisfy all of the Town of Aquinnah's electrical loads, this capped landfill project optimizes land that would otherwise be vacant. The 50kW installation utilizes a racking system with concrete ballasts, rather than embedded foundations, to protect the integrity of the protective cap.

Parking canopies do more than generate electricity. They often provide shade, rain, and snow protection, in addition to EV charging.

Wondering how solar will impact your property value? - "Each 1kW of solar may add roughly $5,900 in value" (Berkeley National Laboratory) - "Homes with solar sell for about 3.6% more on average" (National Bureau of Economic Research)

Many people associate high solar production with summer, but winter can also be surprisingly abundant. Panels work more efficiently in cold weather, and once cleared, snow boosts output by reflecting extra sunlight.

Sizing a solar array is a skill we’ve refined over years of experience. This home uses 10.8 megawatt-hours annually and produces 11—achieving net-zero energy, with a little extra to spare.

For Vineyard Gardens owner Chuck Wiley, selecting a local companythat would be readily available in case of an issue was crucial. We monitorevery system we install. Every day. If something needs attention, there's agood chance we'll notice it before you do.
